Striped Paddle Board

Some pieces earn their place in the kitchen by being quietly, endlessly useful. The Striped Paddle Board is one of them. Pale strips of wood are laid side by side around a single darker stripe at the centre. That darker stripe doesn't stop where the board ends: it runs on to become the handle, so the whole piece reads as one continuous line from tip to grip. The edges are cut clean and square, giving it a calm, modern profile that still feels warm in the hand.

Each board is made by hand in our workshop in Sóller, where the mountains hold the valley close and the scent of orange blossom drifts in on the morning air. The strips are chosen, joined and finished by hand, so no two boards are ever quite alike. The shade of each stripe, the movement of the grain and the small marks of the making all belong to your board alone. We think of these little variations not as flaws, but as character: the honest trace of hands and time.

Use it for chopping herbs and slicing vegetables, or let it carry warm bread, cheese and olives out to the table, the way long, slow lunches are shared here in the valley. It asks for very little in return. Wash it by hand, let it dry standing on one edge, and give it a little oil now and then. Cared for this way, it will deepen in tone and grow richer with every year of use, becoming one of those objects a home quietly gathers its stories around.
